Soderbergh’s “Contagion” Infects Matt Damon, Kate Winslet

A sneeze launched on the set of The Informant! has forced Stephen Soderbergh to clear his calendar and make way for the resulting Contagion, which has attracted the likes of Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Marion Cotillard.

The four are set to star in Sodergbergh’s new film from a script by Informant screenwriter Scott Z. Burns, in which the “nature of a virus (is) used to deal with ‘issues of sovereignty’ and as a metaphor for the way ‘information and misinformation travel’ in contemporary society,” The Playlist reported last fall.

Organizing things for the ultimate comeback!

Hi guys,

I’m sorry I wasn’t able to fulfill my promise about the December updates.

Anyway, for the past couple of weeks I’ve been gathering and organizing stuff from late September up to the present moment and hope to be catching up on the site before the Oscars.

I’ve got hundreds of new photos, videos, scans, etc. So once again I’m sorry for not updating, but my job consists of taking care of over 300 abandoned cats and rescuing some from the streets. So by that, you can only imagine how time consuming it is! :)

That’s it for now. See you guys by March-ish!

Comment and let me know what you most want to see on KWF!

Take care,
Roberta

Follow me on twitter if you want. :)

Quick edit: I’ve just created KWF’s twitter as well. ;)

Hey everyone!

I came here today only to say apologize for not updating these last few months. My offline life has had me completely busy and I almost don’t come online anymore. Anyway, I HAVE NOT abandoned this site nor intend to, just please understand that I’ve got other things to be working with. I promise that come this December I’ll start updating the site again and bring some old stuff too.

Please try to understand. I love this site as much as you guys do and I just want to thank everyone of you who has been worrying about me. I’m okay, just way too busy with other things.

KWF is coming back soon!!! :D

Kate Winslet to narrate documentary on autism

thesunshineboy Brit actress Kate Winslet is all set to narrate a new documentary about an Icelandic mother trying to come to terms with her son’s autism.

Winslet, 33, was compelled to agree to do the narration for director Fridrik Thor Fridriksson’s The Sunshine Boy after she watched footage that he had sent her. The film chronicles film producer Margret Dagmar Ericsdottir as she struggles to understand her severely autistic son Keli.

“I am delighted and honoured that Kate agreed to do the narration,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying. “Her contribution plays an instrumental role in increasing awareness for autism, which many claim is the world’s fastest-growing epidemic,” she added.

The Sunshine Boy is expected to receive rave reviews when it debuts as part of the Real to Reel section of the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12. The flick will feature musical contributions from Icelandic stars Björk and Sigur Ros.

Kate Winslet goes from Oscar win to TV series

British screen star Kate Winslet, who won the 2009 best actress Oscar, will take the lead role in a television adaptation of Mildred Pierce, based on the novel by James M. Cain, Hollywood press said on Friday.

Winslet, who won the Academy Award for The Reader, will be directed by Todd Haynes, best known for his landmark Bob Dylan 2007 biopic I’m Not There.

Although no deal has been struck, Variety said the US subscription channel HBO is a lead contender to pick up the mini-series.

The novel was originally made into a 1945 movie that won actress Joan Crawford an Oscar for her portrayal of a lonely housewife getting into the restaurant business – a move that ultimately devolves into a thrilling tale of romance and murder.

Winslet, 33, first gained popular attention for her star-making role in the 1997 epic movie Titanic, opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.

Haynes, who will also write Mildred Pierce for the small screen, directed Safe (1995), Velvet Goldmine (1998), and Far from Heaven (2002).
