Winslet treasures McQueen wedding dress

Titanic‘s Rose and Hollywood’s Kate has fond memories of the iconic fashion designer Alexander McQueen who committed suicide on the fateful day of 11th February, 2010. In fact, her wardrobe shall vouch for that.

Kate Winslet is now happily married to director Sam Mendes but the stunner had tied the knot in 1998 with her 1st husband Jim Threapleton. And it was McQueen who had been entrusted the responsibility of draping her beautiful frame with her 1st wedding gown. Though, the matrimonial alliance eventually ended with a divorce, it did bear some fruits in the form of a baby girl, Mia. And the Oscar winning actress cherishes the memories of the day she adorned herself with her 1st bridal outfit.

Kate Winslet’s BAFTA pledge

Mortified by headlines she received for performances at previous awards — giving ceremonies — “Get a grip, love,” “You’re embarrassing us” and “It’s celebrity big blubber” — Kate Winslet assures me there will be no theatrics from her at the BAFTAs.

“There will be no tears,” she told me at the Lancôme pre-BAFTA party in association with Harper’s Bazaar at the St. Martin’s Lane Hotel. “This year I can just relax and enjoy watching everyone else get nervous and appreciate their delight when they collect their awards.” After I disclosed in January that her husband Sam Mendes will direct the next James Bond film, I asked her if she would prefer to play the heroine or the villain. “That is a very clever question,” she laughed. “But I am not going to answer it.”
