Kate Winslet could be set to star in an adaptation of Ian McEwan’s latest novel – if Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar has anything to do with it.
Pedro, who directed Penélope Cruz in BAFTA-nominated Volver, praised British writing and acting talent and said he’d love to work with the Atonement author, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The night I spent with Kate Winslet
The Rodin Museum in Paris has always seemed to me as a place in which sadness and beauty lived together in the most profound of the silences. Perhaps because of this, it’s one of the most frequented buildings by Parisians, who go there to reflect and to take lonely strolls.
In its four floors, some of the most emblematic works of the artist intermingle with others signed by his lover, Camille Claudel, who committed suicide for being rejected by the sculptor.
All of it, united with the beauty of the gardens that surround it, encouraged the Lancôme’s executives to elect this museum as structure for the presentation of the new campaign of the Trésor fragrance and its new image, the English actress Kate Winslet, who substitutes Inés Sastre. The Spanish model and actress will endure being spokeswoman of some make-up products and of treatment of the French brand, but it will be Winslet who’s going to put her voice and face into one of the world’s most sold fragrances of the brand.
Academy Award nominated actress Kate Winslet will replace Isabella Rossellini as spokesperson for Lancôme’s Trésor fragrance.Lancôme’s International General Manager, Odile Roujol, told RTE Entertainment, “More than an outstanding actress, Kate Winslet has the amazing ability to be celebrated as both an exceptional and an everyday woman.”
“A passionate person, who lives and feels life to the fullest, she is sure to act as the epitome of Trèsor, our mythical fragrance.”
The campaign for the fragrance was shot on the Pont des Arts in Paris by fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh. Lindbergh’s portfolio includes Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Celine Dion.
Ads for the Trésor fragrance, featuring Winslet, will be published in print and broadcast on television in September.

Waiting on Kate
According to industry sources, Lancôme, the L’Oréal-owned beauty brand, has signed Kate Winslet to be a spokeswoman. Winslet — perhaps best known for her starring role in Titanic with Leonardo DiCaprio — is expected to be introduced to the press at a Lancôme event tonight in Paris. She and DiCaprio are currently filming Revolutionary Road, a movie slated for a 2008 release.

And now a note about the “L’Oréal rumors”: Kate did film an advert for Lancôme earlier in April (see here), which is a division of L’Oréal. However, the advert hasn’t been published yet. I’ll post news as soon as there’s any.
