This is Kate Winslet’s first ad for St. John Knits, the first apparel brand the actress has ever signed on to shill for. “I have worn several of their pieces over the years,” says Winslet. The shoot took place at an old movie theater in New Jersey. “They want to keep it looking like me and not have it look like me pretending to be a model wearing these clothes,” explains Winslet. “I’m obviously not a model. I’m not the size of a model. I don’t have the face of a model or the shape of a model.”
Kate Winslet will honor famed photographer Mario Testino at an upcoming gala in New York marking his stellar 30-year career.
The legendary snapper will be the focus of this year’s El Museo del Barrio Gala and he will receive a lifetime artistic achievement award during the festivities.
Winslet, who has been photographed by Testino several times over the years, will step up to hand the Peruvian photographer a special silver plate inscribed with the names of 30 of his close friends, who will be at the event.
The famous names will include Demi Moore, Julia Roberts, Charlize Theron and Blake Lively, according to New York Post column Page Six.
The event will be held in Manhattan on May 26, 2011.

Kate Winslet was spotted as she picked up her 7-year-old son Joe after school in New York City yesterday, May 10.
The two then patiently tried to hail a cab, until one showed up to take them where they wanted to go. Because who wouldn’t stop for Kate Winslet?
The Revolutionary Road actress recently talked about her life after splitting with Sam Mendes. “I’ve never been lonely,” she said. “And with my kids… that remains the case. But to be in this place where I can say I really like this space. I really need to not have anyone around. It’s a surprise to discover that I like being on my own.”
