Actress Kate Winslet is the new face for Lancôme’s fragrance, Trèsor. She speaks about the fragrance and working with Peter Lindbergh for the print ad and TV commercial.

Q: How did you come to be involved with Lancôme?
A:
They approached me. It immediately appealed to me because I’ve never done anything like this before. And it felt like such an honor to step into the shoes of Isabella Rossellini who was Trèsor’s previous “face”. They wanted something beautiful, romantic and enigmatic for the ad. At the same time, they wanted to convey the message about being comfortable being yourself. I am of the same mind too. So it turned out well.

Kate’s Meeting Project: Accomplished

Many of you might remember our little project earlier this year that fan Janna, who also does awesome drawings of Kate, would try and give out to Kate a collage that fans over here at KWF helped get made:

Well, if you don’t remember, you can read all about it here and here.

Anyway, this is what happened, in Janna’s own words…

Well, I finally got it to Kate last night at the Britannia Awards after the show. Just wanted you to know and you can tell everyone and remind them.

After the show she was leaving the ballroom. My friends and I were waiting for her in the hotel lobby at the Century Plaza. My friends all got photos with her and I didn’t want to bother her for that, it was late and I already had one from before. So the only photo I have of her from the event is one with my friend Emily. Anyway, I gave her the second drawing I did. Just kind of haphazardly handed it to her in the middle of her taking photos with people. She paused and stared at it. She was very surprised. Bill Nighy was with her. She showed it to him and she said thank you. Then I gave her the envelope that had the collage in it. She didn’t open it right then ’cause she was leaving, but she said thank you for that as well. It was all very rushed. But I can tell you she has it, it has an index card inside crediting you personally and the website so she knows who created it for her.

All in all I was kind of in shock talking with her again and probably didn’t get all the things out that I wanted to say, but I’m happy she has her gifts!

What to say about this? Just WOW! Now we all can be sure that Kate knows we exist!!! Thank you so much, Janna! :D

Also, Janna has been lucky enough to having been able to meet Kate more than once. Click here to read her story. :)

Reese and Kate get “bawdy, tawdry and drunken”

Kate Winslet and Reese Witherspoon are neighbors and drinking buddies?

Who knew?

“I always wanted to be a European movie star, wear giant sunglasses, elaborate neck scarves, smoke hand-rolled cigarettes, and have savoir faire and gravitas,” Reese admitted onstage at the BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards last night.

Obviously, the perky all-American actress couldn’t become one. So she became friends with one.

“Imagine my good fortune when Kate Winslet moved into my neighborhood, rang my door bell and said, (insert British accent here) “Dahling, Sam is off shooting, and I believe our children are the same age. Could they possibly have a play date and oh, by the way, it’s almost 9 o’clock and I’ve had nothing to do drink, do you have any wine?”

Vanity Fair Italy Interview

Kate Winslet
I’m not a model

Ten years ago she reached the global success with DiCaprio (“Thank goodness we didn’t have any love affair”), the press obsession for her weight. Today Kate Winslet is happy “when my daughter squeezes my fat”.

He’s in the corridor of the Ritz Hotel in Paris, in front of the entrance of a suite. For a moment he reminds me of Will Smith, but he’s Kate Winslet bodyguard, the woman that we all remember as the redhead Rose in Titanic (one of her 5 Oscar nominations), Clementine who drove Jim Carrey crazy in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Tula, Gandolfini’s lover in Romance & Cigarettes.

Now Kate is also the new Trèsor testimonial.
“How is she?” I ask to the bodyguard, while waiting for her to arrive. “Super” he answers with a worming smile.
