Kate Winslet beauty secret at Golden Globes:

Kate Winslet’s Golden Globes beauty secret is down to “pretty simple” cosmetics costing less than £45, her make-up artist has disclosed.

The British actress, who won two awards for her roles in Revolutionary Road and The Reader, was described by the Los Angeles Times as a “study in restraint” for her appearance at the ceremony in Beverly Hills

Miss Winslet, 33, took to the stage to deliver a breathless acceptance speech in which she implored herself to “Gather!” and managed to forget the name of fellow nominee Angelina Jolie.

The actress, who wore a YSL black column dress, was groomed by celebrity make-up artist Jillian Dempsey using a £6 lipstick and a £4.10 eyeliner, according to the newspaper which said: “It’s all pretty simple, actually, and worthy of imitation.”

The products used included Avon Professional Kohl Eyeliner in Black, available for purchase for £4.10 ($6), Lancôme Color Design Eye Shadow in Chic for £11.30 ($16.50) on the eyelids, Lancôme Ôscillation Mascara £23.40 ($34) in black and Avon Pro-to-Go Lipstick in Cherry Glisten costing £6 ($9). The total retail cost of the items was about £44.80 ($65).

Jillian Dempsey, the wife of is well known within the cosmetics industry as one of the most talented in the field and has been featured throughout the pages of countless beauty and fashion magazines, including Allure, Elle, Marie Claire and Vanity Fair. Her fee for applying the cosmetics to Miss Winslet has not been disclosed.
