Kate Winslet’s “secret love affair” with Michelle Williams

Oscar winner Kate Winslet admitted last Tuesday to a “secret love affair” with Michelle Williams, star of Blue Valentine.

Winslet told this a pretty highfalutin crowd at the Tribeca Grand Hotel screening room, for a showing of Blue Valentine and a chance to meet Williams–just returned from the UK, and director Derek Cianfrance.

In the crowd were people like big deal actress Hope Davis, Judd Hirsch, Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham, and Kim Cattrall.

Winslet confessed to the assembled crowd that she’d only met Williams once and didn’t know her well at all. “But we have a secret relationship,” Winslet said. “I dream about her.” She spoke emotionally, saying that from Williams’ roles she felt she knew her and they had a bond. It was such a lovely speech that Williams started to cry.

“From a distance, I feel as though I’ve actually been having a secret love affair with Michelle,” said Winslet as she introduced the movie. “She and I are quite intimate in my fantasy friendship built on admiration and respect.” She added, “I’m talking about her acting, of course.”

“Contagion” to carry celebrities to Glencoe for four-day shoot

One residential block in north suburban Glencoe will be seeing stars next week.

The film crew for the action-thriller Contagion will be shooting scenes from Nov. 29-Dec. 2 in the 500 block of Woodlawn Avenue, said Paul Harlow, Glencoe village manager.

While shooting at Central School in Wilmette on Nov. 23, a production assistant said Glencoe’s scenes will include Matt Damon, Kate Winslet and possibly other stars of the film.

The movie, directed by Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh, is an action-thriller about a deadly disease outbreak, and features a host of A-list movie stars, such as Damon, Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne and others.

Set in winter, several yards on the Glencoe block will be covered with fake snow for the filming, Harlow said. One house in particular will be used for several interior shots, he said.

Glencoe Public Safety officers will be on the scene, Harlow said — their overtime paid through the film’s budget. He said residents and on-lookers are allowed to stand on the sidewalk when the filmmakers are there.

“It’s my understanding that they’re accommodating to the public viewing, but when it’s time to do the actual shooting we would assist them to make sure the scene is clear to meet their filming needs,” Harlow said.

He said Glencoe residents are supportive of the filming.

“I think there is a certain level of excitement and anticipation the community is given by this,” Harlow said. “This film, being a major motion picture with a significant number of actors with notoriety, it’s the kind of thing they seem to embrace.”

The last major film to shoot in Glencoe was Clint Eastwood’s war movie, Flags of Our Fathers, Harlow said. That movie, released in 2006, included scenes shot at the Glencoe train station.

“But that was just a single day of shooting,” Harlow said.

The scoop on Kate Winslet’s birthday gift from her new boyfriend

Ever wondered what a successful male model buys his famous Hollywood actress girlfriend for her birthday? Well, if Louis Dowler is anything to go by, it’s luxe fashion all the way. For his girlfriend Kate Winslet’s 35th birthday last week, he paid the Belstaff store in London a visit and came away with the perfect gift — one of their classic leather jackets. Store manager of the Mayfair boutique, Fabio de Matteis tells PEOPLE: “He wanted a special present for Kate and took his time looking at the whole collection.” After browsing the British brand’s iconic selection of leather jackets, shoes and accessories, he opted for the Triumph jacket, a fitted, belted style with stud detailing. And Dowler wasn’t shy when it came to gushing about the birthday girl. “He said how much Kate loved her motorcycle but she only had masculine things to wear on it, so he wanted to treat her to something more feminine.” Obviously, the jacket, which retails for more than $1,000, was a hit as Winslet has already been spotted working a new biker-chic look, accessorized with a smile and a certain model on her arm. A triumph indeed.

Kate Winslet: Can she find bliss in marriage to Louis Dowler?

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rose Dawson from Titanic and one of the prettiest actress in the tinsel world Kate Winslet has had an eventful year so far. 2010 has been a mixed year as she found herself picking up double Golden Globes for The Reader and the Revolutionary Road but also got separated from her husband Sam Mendes.

After weeks of agony, however, now she has found comfort in the shoulders of model Louis Dowler. The duo have been all over each other as they get spotted walking arm in arm anywhere and everywhere.

Now the buzz is that Kate is contemplating walking the aisle with him and also have her own kids. But will she find bliss in marriage this time around?

Apparently, she is in deep love with Dowler and reportedly, is also keen to have him move to Chicago where she will be filming for Contagion. She has no intention of staying away from him and clearly doesn’t desire a long distance relationship.

Dowler is good looking and caring. He has certainly been instrumental in wiping her tears and ushering back the playful smile on her face. There is no reason why she shouldn’t find ecstasy and bliss if she ties the knot with him. Hopefully, this romance shall be an undying one…
