Richard Branson invites Kate Winslet to spend Christmas at Necker Island

Kate Winslet has been invited to return to Branson’s Necker Island for Christmas and New Year, along with her tediously surnamed boyfriend Ned Rocknroll.

The Titanic star was a guest at Richard’s £60 million private Caribbean island this summer, when the Great House they were staying in went up in flames after being struck by lightning.

Kate, 36, escaped the terrifying inferno and carried Richard’s 90-year-old mum, Eve, to safety.

A source said: “Richard’s invited her and the kids back to thank her for her bravery in saving his mother.”

Richard is fixing the house ahead of daughter Holly’s wedding, due later this month.

“Contagion” coming to Blu-ray in January

Warner Home Entertainment has announced that the thriller Contagion, starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law and John Hawkes, will be released on Blu-ray January 3, 2012. Contagion follows a few individuals as a deadly virus reaches epidemic proportions and starts wiping out millions of people. The film is a great study of human interaction as well as human reaction, and is a fascinating story of man trying to fight against an invisible enemy given to us by director Steven Soderbergh.

I recently watched this film and found it quite disturbing on several levels. It’s a very, very good movie but I would not recommend watching it with or recommending it to anyone who has any degree of germ-a-phobia. I promise you that this will freak them out and you will have to stock up on hand sanitizer and bottled water. With that in mind, definitely give this one a watch because you will not be disappointed. Special Features include three behind-the-scenes featurettes: “Contagion: How a Virus Changes the World”, “The Reality of Contagion” and “The Contagion Detectives”.

The nominations for the Satellite Awards were announced today with Kate Winslet receiving a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her performance as Nancy in Roman Polanski’s Carnage.
Kate’s co-star Christoph Waltz is also nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Kate Winslet, who presently shares a $2.2 million New York apartment with ex-husband Sam Mendes, now looks forward for a live-in relationship with new beau Ned Rocknroll.

The pair has been inseparable since their meeting on Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island this summer.

“Kate and Ned have barely spent a day apart since they met,” the Daily Mail quoted a friend as saying.

“They have been traveling together recently but are hoping to find a base that they can call home.”

“Sam isn’t keen on them moving into the New York place, which they own jointly, so Kate is looking for something else, either in the States or Britain,” the friend added.

Kate Winslet takes method acting a little too seriously.

In her latest movie, Carnage — a Roman Polanski number — the 36-year-old Titanic actress is shown throwing up.

And there wasn’t much imagination required for the particularly gruesome scene.

She tells Empire: “I had to contain a lot of vomit in my mouth, which is not possible.

“My kids came to work for that day, the vomit day, and they haven’t stopped talking about it since.

“On set, everything smelled of sick all day. I went home and it was between the cracks of my fingers, in my hair, just everywhere.”

Kate Winslet’s boyfriend Ned Rocknroll was along for a walk in Paris yesterday morning, November 22. He and Kate have only been dating for a few months, but he seems to already be a hit with her kids, Mia Threapleton and Joe Mendes. Joe was photographed giving a big hug to Ned, who was simultaneously pinching Mia’s cheeks!

Kate, her children and Ned are all in Europe to support her latest film. She wore a red Stella McCartney number to Sunday’s French premiere of Carnage, which is the latest effort from director Roman Polanski. The movie is based on the award-winning play “God Of Carnage” and will open in the US on December 16.
