“A Little Chaos” To Close Toronto International Film Festival

Kate Winslet’s latest role in A Little Chaos is to close the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.
The period drama, directed by Alan Rickman, stars the Oscar-winning actress as a Palace of Versailles landscaper. It will have its gala premiere in the Canadian city on September 14.

“It is a great privilege for A Little Chaos to have its world premiere in Toronto and for it to be given the festival’s closing night gala, but it is also a very personal pleasure,” Alan said.

“I have filmed in the city, visited often, and some of my closest friends live there. It will be like coming home.”
Cameron Bailey, the festival’s artistic director, added: “A Little Chaos is the perfect closing night film – it transports audiences to another time, another place, full of beauty, complexity, rivalry, politics and romance.”
Toronto’s slate, which includes 59 galas and special presentations, features performances from Benedict Cumberbatch, Denzel Washington, Reese Witherspoon and Robert Downey Jr, as well as films from directors including Chris Rock, Noah Baumbach and Jon Stewart, making his directorial debut.

Benedict’s portrayal of World War II code-breaker Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, to open the London Film Festival in October, will be shown, alongside o ther British offerings including Mike Leigh’s Mr Turner and Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory Of Everything, featuring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones.

Lone Scherfig’s The Riot Club, starring Jessica Brown Findlay and Douglas Booth, and Miss Julie – the big-screen adaptation of August Strindberg’s play starring Colin Farrell and Jessica Chastain – will also have their premieres at the Canadian festival.

The Equalizer, which reunites Denzel with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua, and Cake with Jennifer Aniston will also be shown.

The Toronto International Film Festival, now in its 39th year, runs from September 4 to 14.

Gallery Migration Complete!

After a few months of transferring, resizing and re-adding pictures, I’m proud to say that our new photo gallery is open! I have removed the candids from the gallery as I feel that they are invasive to Kate as she’s a private person, but everything else is back. I will be re-adding Mildred Pierce captures in a few days as I’m recapping the series in high definition for you. Please go visit the new gallery!

Liam Hemsworth Joins Kate Winslet on ‘The Dressmaker’

Liam Hemsworth (“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”), Isla Fisher (“The Great Gatsby”) and Elizabeth Debicki (“The Great Gatsby”) are set to join Kate Winslet and Judy Davis (“Husbands & Wives”) in Jocelyn Moorhouse’s “The Dressmaker.”

Embankment is selling international territories and co-represents the U.S. with CAA.

Principal photography starts in Australia in October.

Winslet plays an avenging angel who returns home to the remote country town from which she fled as a child after being accused of murder, to make amends with her eccentric mother. Although ostracized, as an exponent of the most stunning 1950s haute couture inspired by Madame Vionnet and Balenciaga, she liberates and empowers the town’s women with her quick wit and beautiful clothing. She unexpectedly finds love and ultimately exacts sweet revenge on those who wronged her.

Moorhouse (“Proof,” “How to Make an American Quilt”), who directs her script adaptation of the eponymous novel by Rosalie Ham, said: “Kate Winslet is perfect for Tilly. She’s beautiful, intelligent, and deeply mysterious on screen. Judy Davis is amongst the great contemporary actresses and she will bring powerful wit and charm to the role of Molly. Liam Hemsworth is a laid back, genuine charmer who’s also tall, dark and movie-star handsome. He’ll create a character for the audience to fall in love with.”

Working with Moorhouse will be director of photography Don McAlpine (“Moulin Rouge!”), costume designer Tim Chappel (“The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert”), production designer Roger Ford (“Chronicles of Narnia”) and editor Jill Bilcock (“Moulin Rouge!”).

“The Dressmaker” is produced by Sue Maslin (“Japanese Story”) through Film Art Media, and the film has been financed with the assistance of Screen Australia, Fulcrum Media Finance, White Hot Productions, Film Victoria, Soundfirm and developed with the assistance of Screen NSW.

The film is also financed by Ingenious Senior Film Fund, represented by Gavin Poolman and Michael Shyjka, and will be distributed by Universal Pictures in its home territory.

Kate Winslet Says Leonardo Dicaprio is the Love of Her Life

Kate Winslet shares a special bond with her ‘Titanic’ co-star Leonardo DiCaprio. Their love will go on.

Though Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio’s onscreen romances have always ended in tragedy – at least in the movies they have starred together so far – the two actors have nothing but love for one another off the set.

The British actress had only kind words about DiCaprio during a recent interview. When a reporter asked if she preferred her latest co-star, Theo James’s character over Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jack in ‘Titanic’, the Oscar winner quickly made her decision, saying that there was absolutely no competition between the given leading men.

`Leo is the love of my life,` she told, before adding, `How could you possibly ask me that question? If I said Theo over Leo, he would never stay the night at his house ever again. Ever. No, he can’t have that.`

These two indeed go back a long way.
