‘Divergent’ Sequel ‘Insurgent’ to Be Released in 3D

Insurgent, the second installment in the Divergent franchise, is getting the 3D treatment.

Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment label will release the film in both 3D and 2D on March 20, 2015.

The studio also has begun rolling out eight new interactive 3D character posters on Tuesday, one every hour.

“The second film in the Divergent franchise takes the story and action to another level, and by partnering with RealD, we were able to blend gripping performances and mind-blowing spectacle to create a unique event on screen,” said producers Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher. “We cannot wait to share this experience with audiences around the world.”

The second installment continues to follow Tris (Shailene Woodley), who is now searching for allies and answers in the ruins of a futuristic Chicago. Tris and Four (Theo James) are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine (Kate Winslet), the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’ family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet helping last Titanic survivor

“Titanic” co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are helping the last survivor of the real Titanic’s sinking.

You know, I just realized no one ever talks about a “Titanic” sequel. I wonder why …

Anyway, the New York Daily News reports the actors are supporting a fund that would pay Millvina Dean’s nursing home fees.

Dean was only two months old when the ocean liner sank in the North Atlantic on April 14, 1912.

She’s lived in a nursing home in the English city of Southampton since breaking her hip about three years ago, but apparently has struggled to pay her bills. She has sold several Titanic mementos to raise money.

DiCaprio and Winslet released a joint statement saying they hoped the 102-year-old could rest easier knowing her future was secure. The Millvina Fund was launched Monday in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

“A Little Chaos” To Close Toronto International Film Festival

Kate Winslet’s latest role in A Little Chaos is to close the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.
The period drama, directed by Alan Rickman, stars the Oscar-winning actress as a Palace of Versailles landscaper. It will have its gala premiere in the Canadian city on September 14.

“It is a great privilege for A Little Chaos to have its world premiere in Toronto and for it to be given the festival’s closing night gala, but it is also a very personal pleasure,” Alan said.

“I have filmed in the city, visited often, and some of my closest friends live there. It will be like coming home.”
Cameron Bailey, the festival’s artistic director, added: “A Little Chaos is the perfect closing night film – it transports audiences to another time, another place, full of beauty, complexity, rivalry, politics and romance.”
Toronto’s slate, which includes 59 galas and special presentations, features performances from Benedict Cumberbatch, Denzel Washington, Reese Witherspoon and Robert Downey Jr, as well as films from directors including Chris Rock, Noah Baumbach and Jon Stewart, making his directorial debut.

Benedict’s portrayal of World War II code-breaker Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, to open the London Film Festival in October, will be shown, alongside o ther British offerings including Mike Leigh’s Mr Turner and Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory Of Everything, featuring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones.

Lone Scherfig’s The Riot Club, starring Jessica Brown Findlay and Douglas Booth, and Miss Julie – the big-screen adaptation of August Strindberg’s play starring Colin Farrell and Jessica Chastain – will also have their premieres at the Canadian festival.

The Equalizer, which reunites Denzel with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua, and Cake with Jennifer Aniston will also be shown.
