Kate Winslet says family always comes first

Kate Winslet may have won a Golden Globe this month, but the actress’ most cherished role is her real life one as a mother.

Her children Joe, 7, and Mia, 11, are never far away from her, it seems, although Winslet says that her parents, Roger and Sally, sometimes step in to help out with childcare.

While talking about balancing work and children, the actress said, “you just do it”.

“I just figure it out and pull it off. But I will say this: I have never left my children to go away to work. I have always been able to figure out a schedule where I am shooting during part of their school holidays,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

“I am a mother… That is what I do. Just before I came here today I said out loud‚ ‘OK, famous person hat on.’

“This is playing a completely different role. I always find these occasions thrilling but it is so very far removed from my own life,” she said.

Kate Winslet believes in “beautiful” marriage

Kate Winslet still believes in the idea of committing to a person through marriage, but knows living with someone will always be a “challenge”.

Kate Winslet still believes in the “beauty” of marriage.

The 36-year-old actress — who was married to Jim Threapleton from 1998 to 2001 and director Sam Mendes for seven years from May 2003 — admits commitment can be tough but she still wants to be with someone for the rest of her life.

Kate — who is currently dating tycoon Sir Richard Branson’s nephew Ned Rocknroll — said: “I still believe in the beauty of committing yourself to another person and, at least, in the idea of marriage as an expression of that commitment.

“Living with someone will always be a challenge, but you hope to be able to find someone whom you can spend the rest of your days.”

Kate maintains a close relationship with Sam for the sake of children Joe, eight and 11-year-old Mia — her daughter with Jim — and while the aftermath of the split was difficult, she says they are all very happy now.

She told Britain’s OK! magazine: “It’s not the easiest situation being a single mother, but Sam has been very good in helping me with the kids.

“They’ve been spending time with both of us and even though it was hard at first, we’re all doing great. I’ve never felt better. I’m very happy with the work I’ve been doing and I’m enjoying my time with my children, who mean the world to me.”

Kate Winslet likes red polish on toes

Kate Winslet loves red polish on her toenails.

The Titanic actress says she doesn’t really get time to pamper her feet but thinks putting on a bright red shade can help them look in better condition than they are.

She said: “There’s nothing like red polish on toes. I don’t have much time for pedicures, but if I haven’t done anything to my feet for months and I look like a Neanderthal woman, a coat of red means you can somehow get away with anything.”

As well as brightening up her toes, Kate also has tips for making eyes look better.

She advised: “A great trick I’ve learnt with mascara is to put it on the back of your hand and York it into the tips of a flat stipple brush. Lift up your eyelid ever so slightly and paint a line on the underside of the roots, extremely close to the lashes and then go over the lashes with mascara. It doesn’t show as much as a liner, but can really define the eye. It also makes the whites of your eyes look whiter.”

Richard Branson invites Kate Winslet to spend Christmas at Necker Island

Kate Winslet has been invited to return to Branson’s Necker Island for Christmas and New Year, along with her tediously surnamed boyfriend Ned Rocknroll.

The Titanic star was a guest at Richard’s £60 million private Caribbean island this summer, when the Great House they were staying in went up in flames after being struck by lightning.

Kate, 36, escaped the terrifying inferno and carried Richard’s 90-year-old mum, Eve, to safety.

A source said: “Richard’s invited her and the kids back to thank her for her bravery in saving his mother.”

Richard is fixing the house ahead of daughter Holly’s wedding, due later this month.

Kate Winslet to move in with new beau

Kate Winslet, who presently shares a $2.2 million New York apartment with ex-husband Sam Mendes, now looks forward for a live-in relationship with new beau Ned Rocknroll.

The pair has been inseparable since their meeting on Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island this summer.

“Kate and Ned have barely spent a day apart since they met,” the Daily Mail quoted a friend as saying.

“They have been traveling together recently but are hoping to find a base that they can call home.”

“Sam isn’t keen on them moving into the New York place, which they own jointly, so Kate is looking for something else, either in the States or Britain,” the friend added.

Sir Richard Branson invites Kate Winslet to see Titanic for real

Kate Winslet is set to see the doomed ship Titanic for real — courtesy of billionaire Sir Richard Branson.

The Virgin boss had recently divulged his plan to join other tourists paying 38,000 pounds each for a submarine 12,500ft dive to the wreck of Titanic in the North Atlantic, the Daily Mail reported.

“It is something I am very keen to do. I’m deadly serious about this and I would love to invite Kate to come with me,” Branson said.

“Wouldn’t it be something if the star of Titanic really got to go down to the real ship? I’m going to talk to her but I’m sure it’s an opportunity she will jump at.”

It is one of the most iconic images in film history. When Kate Winslet stood on the prow of the Titanic in the blockbuster 1997 film, it turned her into an overnight superstar.

Kate Winslet proud to be curvaceous

Kate Winslet loves her curvy figure and makes sure to wear clothes that flatter her hour-glass shape.

“I’m lucky to go in and out at the right places, proportionately that’s something I have inherited from my mother. I enjoy my shape and my curves. At the same time, you have to know how to dress,” femalefirst.co.uk quoted Winslet as saying.

“If you are hippy, then pleats off the waist? Forget it! You absolutely cannot wear them. It’s about knowing how to work with the right fabric,” she added.

The 35-year-old has two children, Mia, 11, her daughter with first husband Jim Threapleton, and seven-year-old Joe, her son with estranged spouse Sam Mendes.
