The “British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League”

How refreshing. A trio of British actresses who are well-respected and beautiful, to boot, have formed a club of sorts. Kate Winslet (36), Rachel Weisz (41) and Emma Thompson (52) have joined in solidarity against succumbing to the lure of plastic surgery. Representing women in their 30’s, 40′s and 50′s, the actresses have made a vow to never go under the knife.

What a nice treat. They are all stunning in their own right, and I think this is a very positive message to send to our youth obsessed society. Women (and actresses in particular) have ridiculous expectations placed upon them to remain eternally youthful. However, in the quest for that look, too many women are looking like sideshow freaks. I can’t for the life of me figure out how they think they look better with all the work they have done.

On occasion, I watch The Bold And The Beautiful. I used to think that Hunter Tylo was one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen. Now, I just feel sorry for her. She has a perpetually frozen look, boobs far too large for her frame, and lips inflated beyond their capacity. Why? I can’t even watch her without cringing. Such a shame.

From Us Magazine:

Kate Winslet: “I will never give in,” she said. “It goes against my morals, the way that my parents brought me up and what I consider to be natural beauty.”
While the women’s resolve not to go under the knife is real, their league might be more of a way to speak out against ageism than an active organization.
“I am an actress, I don’t want to freeze the expression of my face,” Winslet said.
Thompson, 52, agreed. “I’m not fiddling about with myself,” she exclaimed. “We’re in this awful youth-driven thing now where everybody needs to look 30 at 60.”
Newly-married Weisz, 41, said that people “who look too perfect don’t look sexy or particularly beautiful.”

I hope the ladies can adhere to their promise. We need more women like this spreading the message that it’s perfectly fine to age gracefully. Kate and Rachel still look good and will continue to get work partly for photogenic reasons, but as pointed out by Huffington Post, Emma Thompson’s vow to resist cosmetic surgery shows real bravery, being now at an age where wrinkles can be hard to cover up with makeup, though not impossible for the top plastic surgeons. Will Kate continue her pledge when she begins to get wrinkles and sags in a few places, or will she succumb to a facelift?

First thing Kate Winslet does during a fire: Put on a bra!

Might sound crazy, but it’s true!

On the 10th-season premiere of BBC America’s The Graham Norton Show, which airs Oct. 21, Kate Winslet stopped by to talk about her latest drama, Contagion. But before getting into that, she shared more on the real drama in her life, mainly, that fire on Necker Island when she saved Richard Branson’s grandmother.

Surprisingly, hearing her tell the story was quite funny.

“It was genuinely very scary, it really was. I mean, we did wake up at 4:30 in the morning to hear the sounds of some of Richard’s nephews voices yelling that there was a fire. And I jumped up and ran immediately towards the fire, because clearly I thought I could put it out.”

After realizing that wasn’t the safest idea, she turned back around to find her children, Mia, 10, and Joe, 7.

“My children were standing at their bedroom door, and I said, ‘It’s a fire, it’s fine. Go back inside just for two minutes and just close the door.'”

“Then I’m thinking, ‘Now what do I do?’ Ran into the bedroom, and put on a bra,” she said. “In disastrous moments like that, you do the strangest things. So I started to put on a bra, and then thought that’s gonna take me too long, off came the bra, on with the T-shirt, grabbed the bag, grabbed the children and picked up granny.”

Hey, sometimes chest support isn’t a priority.

Kate covers the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK

Kate Winslet has spoken for the first time of her divorce from Sam Mendes, and of her battle to rebuild her life.

Looking sultry with a Sixties edge in a glamorous photo shoot, the Oscar-winning actress told how she coped with the sadness by “soldiering on” — but that she now feels as if she is at the beginning of a “new narrative”.

Winslet, 35, parted from the Reading-born stage and film director last year after seven years of marriage. They have a two-year-old son Joe, and Winslet said that although it had been “hard”, they were focusing on raising him together.

The British star, who also has a 10-year-old daughter, Mia, from her first marriage to director and writer Jim Threapleton, told Harper’s Bazaar UK: “One thing I will say about me and Sam is that it’s fine, it’s really fine. I’m not going to shit-fling, there’s no point in even going there. It is what it is.

“We’re grown-ups at the end of the day, and however hard it’s been for me, it’s been equally hard for him. And we have a child together who we both love – and raising him together, jointly and without any conflict, is absolutely key. It’s the only way to do it, and I’ve really learned that with Mia.”

Inside Kate Winslet’s “sexy” fling with Richard Branson’s nephew

Rocknroll new romance for Kate Winslet!

The Oscar winning actress, 35, is dating Richard Branson’s nephew Ned Abel Smith — a.k.a. Ned Rocknroll — a source confirms to Us Weekly.

The duo arrived together at last Tuesday’s memorial service for Ted Branson (Richard Branson’s father) at the Royal Geographical Society in London. The Daily Mail reports that Ned, 33, legally changed his name to “Ned Rocknroll” several years back, and recently separated from his wife Eliza, the daughter of a British viscount.

“Ned is really happy with Kate,” the source tells Us, adding that the couple are currently spending a romantic weekend in the English countryside. Mildred Pierce star Winslet is “mature and has it all together,” the source explains. “[Ned] feels he can learn so much from her. It’s sexy — a boy toy situation!”

An old friend of the Branson family, Winslet was famously a guest on Richard Branson’s private Necker Island in late August when the house she was staying in caught fire; Winslet ended up carrying Eve, Branson’s elderly mother, out of the burning building.

Winslet wasn’t a solo visitor during her momentous Necker Island stay. In addition to her kids Mia, 10, and Joe, 7, the star’s fellow guest was Louis Dowler, her on-and-off model beau.

No word yet on exactly when Winslet and Dowler parted ways.

Richard Branson’s nephew “totally smitten” by curvy beauty Kate Winslet

Richard Branson’s nephew Ned Rocknroll has revealed that he is “totally smitten” by Kate Winslet.

The 33-year-old also admitted that he can’t get enough of the 35-year-old Titanic star’s curvy figure.

“When he met Kate he realized she was a real grown up and was attracted to her maturity,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

“He also liked the fact she was a little bit older. He finds her incredibly sexy,” the source stated.

Winslet cozied up to Rocknroll while staying at the Virgin tycoon Branson’s Caribbean holiday island of Necker and the two were recently pictured sharing a joke together in Central London.

Sources have revealed that twice-wed Winslet’s pals have “never seen her so happy”.
