Pedro praises Brit talent

Kate Winslet could be set to star in an adaptation of Ian McEwan’s latest novel – if Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar has anything to do with it.

Pedro, who directed Penélope Cruz in BAFTA-nominated Volver, praised British writing and acting talent and said he’d love to work with the Atonement author, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Kate Winslet: Portrait of a Lady

This is the latest famous name of cinema to lend her face to a fragrance. From September on, she will be the new ambassador of the perfume Trèsor, replacing the Spanish Inés Sastre. She received Yo Dona two weeks ago in Paris, while on a break from shooting her new film with Leonardo DiCaprio, again her co-star 10 years after world-wide successful Titanic.

Winslet wins damages over diet story

British actress Kate Winslet, an outspoken critic of what she sees as Hollywood’s obsession with being skinny, has won a public apology and undisclosed libel damages from a magazine that reported she visited a diet doctor.

Winslet’s lawyer, Rachel Atkins, told the High Court in London on Friday that the article in Grazia magazine was wrong.

The weekly glossy, published by Britain’s Emap Plc, had reported that Winslet discussed treatments at the Chinese Healing Institute in California.

Atkins said Winslet did receive treatment from a doctor there, but it was for a neck injury and not for weight.
