When Kate Winslet rang me earlier today, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. A bit of beauty banter? Of course. But the conversation that ensued unveiled a genuine heart and sense of purpose below the striking exterior of this Lancome spokesmodel.
Though still in her early 30s, Kate’s sage-like qualities resounded over the phone. With all the awards she’s been winning and is nominated for, you’d think she’d be a little less grounded, not so.
So then it’s safe to assume that you’re comfortable with being a “body image hero
Yes, yes. Very much so.
Do you watch yourself in your films? Is it hard to see yourself on screen?
I don’t watch myself, no. I always see [my films] once when they come out, but I don’t sit and avidly watch them. I do find it a bit strange.

Hi there
I am a researcher for the Richard and Judy show. We are looking for three fans of Kate, Leo and Titanic to take part in our film review next week. We want three fans to go and see the film, ‘Revolutionary Road’ on Monday, 26th January (2009) and then come in to the studio on Wednesday, 28th January to review it on the show.
We will pay for your cinema ticket and your travel. Our studios are in London, so you need to live in the UK to take part.
If you, or someone you know, is interested, please email rhernster@aol.com
Many thanks
At the time of writing this, it may be postponed until next week,
Monday 2nd February.
I have removed the researchers email and phone number by request, but I will forward on any query to the show.  rhernster@aol.com

Kate: Oscar But No Maid Marian
It’s a war of Kates — or Cates — as the search for Robin Hood’s Maid Marian continues.
I told you the other day about Sienna Miller leaving Nottingham, the Ridley Scott directed feature set to star Russell Crowe. The feeling was that petite, young Miller would seem dwarfed on screen by the older, beefier, Gladiator star.
Now comes word from sources that Kate Winslet, nominated for Best Actress in The Reader, has passed on the role of Maid Marian and the opportunity to spend quality time with Crowe, Scott and pals in the woods.
